Autobiography
I am a 21 year old college student, currently in my senior year at the University of Puerto Rico at Humacao. Although I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on October 9, 1993, I have lived for 18 years in “La Playa de Humacao”; that is, next to the beach in Punta Santiago, with my father, Francisco, my mother Deana, and my brother, Raymond. About 1 year ago, my mother, brother and I moved to a new house in Gurabo in order to take in and care for my only living grandparent, my Tata, Virginia.
My educational path began since I was 2 years old at the Ryder Academy, where I remained for 6 years, until completing the Second Grade. Then I went to English Bilingual School for 4 years, and graduated from the Sixth Grade. Afterwards, I spent 6 years at Colegio San Antonio Abad, from 7th to 12th Grade. These years were intense and demanding but also gratifying since they did prepare me well for college.
I consider myself to be friendly, considerate, helpful, confident, talented, and creative; somewhat of a perfectionist and the ultimate Girl Scout. I became a Girl Scout as a Brownie, and then continued as a Junior, Cadette, Senior and Ambassador. During these 11 years, I was the first of my troop to obtain all three of the highest awards in Girl Scouting; the Bronze Award as a Junior, the Silver Award as a Cadette, and the Gold Award as a Senior. My years in Scouting have given me skills, abilities, knowledge, values and experiences that have complemented my formal education.
I entered the English Department because of my love of the language, and I hope to complete my BA and obtain the Certificate as an English Teacher at the Secondary Level. Because of my love of many languages, different cultures and travel, I aspire to pursue post-graduate studies in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) so I can travel and experience living in different countries while teaching English.
Although my personal philosophy is to enjoy nature and life to the fullest, I know we have to be responsible citizens. After my studies, I eventually hope to marry and have kids, and I expect be able to earn enough money to live comfortably and provide a good future for my children.
